Greetings Tuggers

I have NT32FB-95 of 1997 vintage. I am away from the dock and have a
question on how the engine room bilge communicates with the shaft alley
where the bilge pumps are located. Additionally is there a need to consider
a separate bilge pump in the engine room?

Thanks in advance-

Sam Collins

I once owned a 32’NT and a 37’NT and in both cases, the engine room bilge is/was isolated from the shaft alley bilge by a ridge in the bilge deck about 4” tall.  I think this is to prevent oil and diesel fuel that might be under the engine from contaminating the shaft alley bilge water and then being pumped overboard.  For both boats the engine room bilge was always completely dry and the shaft alley bilge was frequently wet.  The water heater over-temp/pressure hose and at least one air conditioner condensate hose emptied into the shaft alley bilge.  To keep this area dry, I routed these hoses into a Tupperware container and then periodically emptied the container.
