Fixing Screw Holes in Roof?

I need to move the 4 Weaver dinghy chocks on the roof of my Nordic Tug 37  to accommodate a new, larger dinghy.

I sure want to seal the existing holes so they won’t leak!

Marine Tex?  5200?  Don’t even THINK about it - definitely hire a fibreglass expert?

Any sage words of wisdom?

Hi Jeff,
I recommend thickened epoxy, or hire an expert. I would not use any regular sealant like 5200, Sikaflex, etc. There is a really good fibreglass guy here in Nanaimo, but he is very busy.
Good luck with this,

Thickend epoxy to fill the holes level with the upper deck, then mount the new supports for the new dinghy. Ideally, drill the new holes oversized, fill with thickened epoxy, then drill for the actual screw size.Happy tuggin',Charlie BillingsEx 26-001 & 32-057 ownerSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Some fibreglass experts can replicate the diamond non skid pattern with gel coat to finish off the filled holes.

In my case I needed to remove the inboard handrail on the upper deck to accommodate my dinghy. I got a 24” x 48” piece of non skid from NT. The local fibreglass guy ground down a section of non skid and epoxied in a section of the new non skid into the deck, finished the edges so you’d never know there had been holes ther for the former handrail.
Best wishes

I had the local fibreglass guy fill in and finish the deck to pilothouse joint. It turned out fantastic. Colour match was amazing.
The same guy did a repair to the cockpit overhang where the core was wet from "dinghy holes" that the previous owner had not filled in properly. Expensive fix but he did a good job of doing the non skid as you described Stephen.
