Thanks for all the details. I have a few questions. Did you supply inverter power to the complete AC System on the vessel and you turn on the breaker you wish to power? Does this newly installed system supply power, or can it, when the shore power is connected. Another words, can both AC shore and inverter power supply service at the same time or do you have to make sure the inverter is off while on shore? Was the inverter you installed a pass through model?

However, the way I understand his article is that he fed the AC out from the inverter into the breaker panel where his generator was connected (generator previously removed). So whatever AC was run by the generator would now be run by the inverter (probably all of the AC circuits).
I installed a Xantrex 2000 on 32-225 in 2008 because the previous owner didn’t install a generator. At the same time, I installed solar panels, solar charging unit and additional house batteries. I don’t quite remember the details (I don’t own the boat anymore) but the Xantrex shut off automatically when shore power was connected. I didn’t need to throw any switches.

We've owned 3 power boats that had factory optioned inverter/chargers
(including our NT-37.) In each case, the inverter only powered the 120vac
outlets and the microwave. If shore power was present, shore power was
passed through and powered those loads. If shore power was lost, the
inverter could either automatically or manually power the loads depending
on how it was set.
If the inverter was wired to be able to power all the AC loads it could
easily or accidently be overpowered. (Think large switched loads like the
water heater, electric cooktop, aircon's, etc.) This would be a concern not
only for the inverter, but also the loads. I can't speak specifically to
the NT-32, but if the inverter was originally offered as an option then it
would be likely that the distribution panel was set up with a jumpered
"inverter bus." Easy enough to check on the (excellent) NT schematics and
utilize if present.

I totally agree with Jim. We added a Magnum Inverter/Charger to our NT 37-100 (2004) boat. It has a separate panel for 120V outlets and the microwave. Our hot water/built in King heater/water maker (big loads) are not on the inverter panel – for all the reasons previously stated.
In our case – the vessel was pre-wired for the optional inverter, and we had an electrician install the Magnum and verify the configuration. One of the best upgrades we put on the boat.
