Greetings,
I guess I'm primarily addressing SENTOA folks in southern New England.. I
need get my onan generator elevated slightly and replace the oil pan...
already have the parts. I'm specifically looking for a referral from one of
you who might know of an ethical, experienced, proficient,
does-what-he-says mechanic.. who can reasonably demonstrate he actually
is these things.. and operates in the vicinity northern Narragansett
Bay/SE-Mass/E-CT. Doesn't have to work in marine-services, and in fact that
would be my preference. Past A&P experience viewed very positively.
The engine part is an easy fix... loosen... swap... torque. Yup.. owning a
quality torque wrench is also a job requirement. Under an hr once access is
gained. The PITA will be hoisting the gen high enough (inches) to do the
operation. My plan (the only thought I had actually) was to do this myself
but my ancient "body" decided to rebel with something my doctor called an
"injury storm". If it was an important joint and/or muscle, it went very
bad. Nearly 10 months on the sidelines... 2 months in a bed/recliner. That
decimated my muscle mass and left my rt knee done. 2023 essentially didn't
exist for me, and ladders are pure hell now. Been in my engine room for the
last time... formerly my favorite place on the boat. Tried to hire two
different mechanics late summer.. how you say... didn't work out.
The oil pan is the only skills thing on the punch list... only minor items
after that for full mission-worthiness. I've got 6 people interested and 2
seem to want me to resurrect an option 2 price. I may but I'd prefer to
have everything perfect before I make that decision, motivated to escape
boating/marina life as I may be. Take care, thanks for reading. If you want
to respond, here or the email portal on the Clock Work web site is fine.

For all diesel things I can’t do when in the RI area use DePaul Diesel.
Best damn diesel mechanics on the east coast. They took out a Lombardini
generator and installed a Northern lights in my last sailboat. Their
ability to move things is outstanding and the wrench work excellent.
