The chinese 12 v dc diesel heater on our NT 32-238 "Bessie" has failed to ignite. It replaced the factory-installed ESPAR? heater some years before we purchased the vessel in 2020, so it has at least five years of use on it. The thermostat control has also become a bit erratic and quite frankly I do not want to try to troubleshoot the heater.
I am tempted to replace it with another chinese diesel heater rather than pay over ten times as much for an ESPAR or WEBASTO heater.
Anyone care to share their experience and recommend a heater?
Many thanks,

I have a 2023 Webasto diesel heater on my current boat. Absolutely no
problems with it, heats quickly, extremely miserly on fuel. One thing the
dealer stressed to me was to regularly use the heater. Apparently
these things consume so little fuel that they can clog up otherwise. Might
be worth checking your installation before throwing in the towel.

Hi, Jim and many thanks for the reply. Our tug lives on the Great Lakes and the chinese diesel heater get all-too-regular use up there. We bought the boat in Connecticutwhere it spent most of its life, so I think the heater is just worn out.

Thanks, Richard! I replaced the fuel pump filter a couple of years ago, but did not know about a second filter in the injector nozzle. I'll have a look at it when we splash in late May. Boat is wintering in Seneca, IL.

I have not had mine apart yet, nor am I suggesting that this is the exact part, but my understanding is that the nozzle has a metal particle "filter" in the back
