Hello, new to this group as we just recently purchased a 2008 NT 37FB. We are attempting to install a Glomex tv antenna and wondering if anyone has experience on running the cable from mast to where the cable tv comes into the boat…thinking we would connect it there to the existing cable and hoping it runs to the salon and back to the master stateroom. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Diane Leighton
I ran the cable into the back of the pilot house where there were already several wires for radar, antennas, lights, etc. Then across the pilot house under the outer perimeter of ceiling to the to the front starboard corner of the PH. Various pieces of trim needed to be removed. Down the wire chase that was already there, into the space under the helm station, and finally into the engine room. From there I ran the cable to the back corner of the salon (not easy) where the TV lives.
It is impossible to say how your "existing cable" might be arranged, since it is likely that there are many variations, both factory installed and owner installed. I would certainly spend some time checking anything that already exists to make sure it goes where you want.
I ripped out all the wiring to the original cable inlet, keeping only the external connection fitting to block the hole in the side of the cabin. (I have not seen a marina with a working TV cable for a number of years.)
None of this is particularly easy and definitely requires a lot of crawling around and working in cramped spaces. If you are agile and at least a little bit technical it is very doable. If not, it would be best to hire a young acrobat.

Thanks Gene. Will take a look at that area and see. Got several suggestions from the FB group that we simply buy a smart TV and just go wireless with possibly a Starlink antenna. Hmmmm….

Cheap solution - buy one of the amplified small square digital antennas
sold at Walmart for $25-35 and mount it high on the inside surface of the
nearest window to the TV. Mine hid under the blind in the rear window on
the port side of my 42. It was maybe 9 x 9 inches. I got decent
reception, probably not as good as a mast-top Glomex, but good enough. GE
also has a bar-shaped antenna that could probably be installed at the top
of the window frame, hanging down just a bit below the frame in the
window. Just lead the short coax and power cables from the antenna into
the TV cabinet.
This solution is cheap enough to give it a try and see if you like it.
