Fuse for Ignition Switch

When I was adding a wire to the ignition switch for my battery isolators, I accidentally brushed the positive pole of the ignition switch to the grounded panel plate and blew the fuse. Does anyone know where that fuse might be? I looked behind the DC panel and it’s not there.

There may be an in-line fuse under the dashboard….  Do you have wiring drawings for your tug?
Best wishes

You didn’t mention your boat, if you have an early NT with one of the Cummins 6B variations, look for a circuit breaker with a 1/4” dia. black reset button on top rear of the engine in the bracket that mounts the gear oil cooler. This circuit breaker feeds 12vdc to the ignition (and entire helm) directly from the starter via the main harness.
Good luck.

Yes, I’ve been through all the wiring diagrams and none show where the power comes from to the ignition switch. I’ve found some fuses under the dashboard/behind the steering wheel, but all are good.

Since we have 37-136 it is likely that the wiring is very, very similar.

The key switch is driven by the main engine wiring harnesses. There are at least three fuses in the wiring system. The only fuse that I know of is for the always-on unswitched power. This should be located right at the starting battery.

The other fuses are probably in the wiring harness area at the engine, but I do not know exactly where they are located.

Great suggestions Kelly. I found the fuse on the port side of the engine down low. Here it is with a red cover. I replaced it and all is good again! Thank you!

Thanks Gene. I found it in the wiring harness of the engine area (port side, down low) in a red capped fuse holder 10 amps. Replaced the fuse and my mistake is now corrected. :-)
