In my carbon-dateable opinion, there are modes that belong and modes that
don’t in common-interest groups that work... fun.. cordial.. friendly,
etc... good stuff. Drama, trolling, comments about character... belong
some other place. I don’t come here much because I quit boating, but I made
some friends here, got some great help and hopefully did something useful
at least once or twice. I unfortunately need to respond to something
addressed at me and I just don’t believe any part of it belongs in a place
people go for fun and useful exchange. I’ll put that reply in the link, and
only for a limited time. I wish you sincere good luck in having better
things to do.

I stepped away from any effort to work selling my NT 42 Clock Work about a
year and a half ago... the “why” is in the blog if anyone is dying from
curiosity. Around July 4, I talked myself into it. The decision to get back
on that horse was a direct consequence of mounting frustration at my
inability to land one but hopefully two copies of my truck, precise to the
year... 2004. My motivation.. professionally informed.. being: demonstrated
mission-worthiness, reliability and cost of ownership. And equally or more,
NOT owning any of the vulnerability-rich rolling embarrassments to systems
design excellence being pushed into the market the last 15+ yr... i.e. same
thinking applied to buying Clock Work.
The truck version of my problem was demand dynamics that differ from most
used vehicles with lesser reputations... I am now up against progressively
more buyers executing an intelligent buying strategy. Many might still
follow a string to work eachday, and just read something on the web rather
than figuring it out for themselves, but who cares. Same price vs inventory
dynamics. That market is now down to a final stage I call trace
availability.. I’ve seen one astonishingly go for mid-50’s and one I
recently just lost out on that was in the upper 40’s, despite being
plentiful in the $6-12k just a few yr ago. I’ll get there (or get a real
horse) but that frustration suggested to me I look at the CW sale more
pragmatically. The dynamic is no longer integrated across all potential
buyer types.. i.e. some comparing it to every other boat, and others who
instantly “get” what I mean by the phrase “the good engine”. Now everyone
is, and is best considered to be of that second category, and that’s where
I’ll be focusing my time going forward.

Here we go again …. pushing the theory that old technology was better and
cannot be replicated ….. thus justifying a higher pricer on an older

What is odd is that the screws they provided were too big for the holes
so
prepare to use the existing screws and / or make the holes bigger in
the
plastic bases.
