Hi Everyone,
I have NT 32-248. The locks on the pilothouse doors are in bad shape. The lock cores fall out of the cylinder. I called Southco, they seem to have purchased Morbello (the original maker of the door lock). Jessica found the new part number, MM01-433-50, and said they could manufacture the whole door locking mechanism for $418 per side. They won’t manufacture just the lock core. I only need the lock core.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution that doesn’t require buying they whole assembly?

I had the same problem on NT32-251. It turned out to be a pretty simple fix. There’s a snap ring that holds the core in. The snap ring had broken. The pieces were inside the door. You can get at the latch/ lock mechanism by removing the lower section of door edge trim. My local ACE hardware had the snap rings in both plane steel and stainless steel. I obviously chose SS. It took a bit of trial and error plus a snap ring tool to get the correct size. Picture below (if that’s allowed).

Thanks Tom, that’s a great idea. The picture did come through. I will get some snap rings.
