David.
TGL also have several levels of charter opportunities in Traverse City on both 32/34 and 37/39 Nordic Tugs.  You will also get to tour any in port while there for class or charter.
Jay is also Nordic Tugs Dealer for over 20 years. They know the boats.

I went thru the class and used Jay to both buy and sell a NT 37, single cabin.

It's a great cruising grounds for a charters, and the class will definitely get you up to speed on single engine/bow thruster operations.  Class size is two and you stay on a NT32 for the duration of the class.

I enjoyed Jay's program, too. It was very helpful.

Wow, the response time on this service is great!

Thanks again for the response.

The 'class room' setting would be great, but too focused and time-constrained for me.

I am a software designer/developer and will need time to continue design/development/implementation/support of our SaaS products.

For that reason I'm seeking a slower paced and longer duration 'program' than a class setting.

Best,

David

The pilot charter program sounds like your solution.  A couple hours on water traveling to your next port with an captain on board, (the Charter captains are also class instructors and you can participate[ate in the operation of the vessel along the way).

The captain gets off the boat after arrival at destination and you can explore / work as you need.  Captain returns next morning to move to next port where again you can be as involved as you want.

One of the big bonuses is you get to try the boat you want before making a rather large investment.
