Porthole and forward hatch screen

Hello all,

I am looking for porthole replacement screens for my 2008 NT37.  I could find no manufacturer's stamp on the hardware.

I am also looking to solve an issue with my Bomar forward hatch.  The way the screen frame is constructed, there is only about a
1/8" lip for the clips to slide over and the screen will fall outs without much encouragement!

Any solution to these issues will be welcome!

I replaced mine at New Found Metals, not stainless, but work well.
Newfoundmetals.com. 8 “ worked for me.

I can vouch for the 8” Man Ship screens from sailboatstuff.com (LSR-08-SN).  They were a great upgrade from the original equipment on 2009 tug.

When I purchased mine in 2013, they were offering a 5% discount for Nordic Tug owners.  You might want to inquire if that is still a thing.

Regarding the forward hatch: yes, the screen is very tricky to hold in the exact place while turning the clips to hold it in place.

To make it much easier, I cut a 1” x 10” piece of 1/16” thick ABS black plastic and used double stick tape to attach it to the black outside frame to support the far end of the screen as I put it on.

Now, you can insert the screen so the far end is supported by the plastic strip, then turn the clips to hold the near side on and you’re done. I’ve attached a photo with blue arrows pointing to the black plastic strip. It’s very hard to see it in this photo. You can just see the closest end of it in the picture. The far end is not visible—black on black.

Rio,

If you’d be interested in an upgrade for your Bowman hatch screen, you might look at the SeaBreeze shade screen. I contacted Pompanette/Bowmar and gave them my Bowman hatch model/serial number and they set me up with the right shade screen. Perfect fit. They’re not cheap; mine was around $350 with shipping, but it made things a lot easier and it also includes a shade. We might have the same hatch. Here are the details for my screen:
